Making pizza from scratch
What is more fun than making pizza with friends or even alone while drinking some wine, so you can make it as you want it to be, with your favorite ingredients, and even more fun eating it.
Here is a recipe you can follow, but don't forget getting risky with the toppings.
For the dough
- 2cups of all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 packet of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil add more if you want
- 3/4 cup water
- Add some garlic and basil, depending
First combine 1 cup of flour, instant yeast, salt , sugar and the garlic and basil if desired in a large bowl.
Add the water (make sure its warm) and the olive oil and stir with a wooden spoon.
Add the second cup of flour, sometimes you may need some more flour so add some little if needed, when you can manage the dough with your hands and it is still a little sticky your dough is ready!
Drizzle a clean bowl with olive oil make sure you put some olive oil in all sides of the bowl.
Put some flour in your hands and make a ball with the dough, then put it in the bowl with the olive oil, and rolled it all along the sides of the bowl until your dough its full of it, then put in the top of the bowl with the dough inside some plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for about 30 min. or when the dough doubles its size.
Preheat the oven up to 215C (425F).
When the dough rises, deflate it with your hands and pass it to a floured surface and knead until it gets smooth you may need to do this like 5 times in order to get the consistency needed.
Make a circle with the dough or any form you want your pizza to be, I recommend a 12" circle.
Then transfer that circle to a paper lined pizza pan or a pizza rock and make the edges however you want them, maybe pinched them or fold them.
Finally add some more olive oil on the top of the pizza spread it with a brush, a pastry brush works really good and one of the most important things with a fork poke some holes in all the pizza this helps to avoid all the bubbles.
Add any topping you want, the most important thing about making your own pizza is you can add anything you want, for me pear, some brie cheese and honey is the best combo, but for some jam, or serrano jam is their option.
For a basic but goodie, do your own recipe of tomato sauce, then add some mozzarella cheese, and finally some herbs, on top of that add your fav topping, you can do half and half, many pizzas and even a nutella pizza!!!
Last but not least
Enjoy your pizza with some company and some wine, for me the best wine to combine pizza is red, but choose you favorite.
